clinical quality
The goal of the Institute for Health Center Performance is to promote, ensure and advocate for quality healthcare in Maryland and Delaware community health centers (CHC’s). In seeking to achieve the highest standards in healthcare delivery, Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) is an essential fundamental component in this process.
Quality improvement starts at the initial point of contact with the patient and incorporates various stages of a quality encounter. The enhancement of the organization of the clinical practice environment in which care is delivered is a collaborative effort involving the community health center clinical staff, as well as patients and families. The Institute focuses on assisting community health centers to identify the barriers to providing quality care and strives to be a resource for implementation of quality improvement of healthcare initiatives to bridge the gap in health disparities.
To deliver the most Cost Effective, Efficient, Quality and Safe Care, CHC’s must take a TEAM approach. Clinician’s are the backbone of health delivery and fundamental to quality health delivery. Organizational leaders must have knowledgeable, experienced and visible clinical leadership in the perspective roles to successfully lead. The value of the Clinician’s perspective and consideration of the reality of the “day to day” of the “clinical hands on” experiences is critical. Often, there may be a disconnect between operations, finances and the clinical departments, however, they all are conditional and revolving. Administrators and clinical leaders must appreciate others role and importance to the organization, the community, and most importantly the patient
Clinical efficiency and effective clinical decision making by utilizing national quality measures to guide clinical practice in a collaborative team effort is critical in meeting the needs of patients we serve and improve the services community health centers offers.
Quality Healthcare is driven by Passion for Humanity and this is the underpinnings for Continuous Quality Improvement.
